What is the The Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002?

 

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 gives a general right of access to all types of information held by Scottish public authorities, sets out exemptions from that right and places a number of obligations on public authorities, including the development of an approved Publication Scheme.
Section 23(1) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act requires every Scottish public authority to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme, to publish information in accordance with that Scheme and to periodically review that Scheme.
